Twilight

Well, I've seen these books in stores for quite some time, but never purchased them because I wasn't into vampire books. The movie for the Twilight book came out and I wouldn't go with Kelly and Pam to see it because I hadn't read the book yet. Well, my friend Debbie finished it and told me I had to read it...So, after MUCH procrastination I finally got to reading the book. (I still struggled at the beginning, because as I said, I'm not into vampires.) Well, the book was wonderful! I now have the Twilight bug! Debbie, Tori and I went to see the movie last night, and I must say that I was impressed. The movie did a really good job of following the book. Sure, there were so many details left out that the movie can't do justice, but there weren't made up scenes or characters like I have seen in movies in the past. Edward Cullen in the movie was very good. He wasn't what I had pictured in my head, but very good. (Except there were a few times where they made him just look googly eyed and crazy.) I didn't care so much for Bella, and Esme used to be on Grey's Anatomy. I didn't like her on Grey's, and so it was hard for me to accept her in Twilight. I purchased the 2nd book yesterday while shopping. (Remember I couldn't find it anywhere in Pitt.) I read it today and really loved it. I had heard that it wasn't all that wonderful after Twilight, but I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to be able to get my hands on the third book. (Wal-Mart had them tonight, but only the hardback. Sorry, too cheap to spend that much on a book.)

Definitely worth the read!

DONE!

My Christmas shopping is COMPLETE!

Now, could someone please come and wrap all of these presents? haha

Tori and I went to Joplin yesterday and finished the majority of our shopping. All of my packages ordered online have been delivered, and I went to Wal-Mart to buy some paper and finish up a couple of little things this evening.

Tomorrow it is time to clean the house!

We are going to spend Christmas Eve by going to Parsons to church with Grandad and then opening presents at his house. I'm sure that the kids will LOVE that! :-)

Christmas day we will open presents at home, then we are going to Vic's mom's house and his Grandma's house. So, it will be a fun and busy day!

Merry Christmas!

DONE!

I am done! My Christmas shopping is COMPLETE! :-)

Christmas Rush

Well, as my kids keep reminding me, there are only 4 days until Christmas. This shouldn't be a problem, but I still have TONS of Christmas shopping to do. I just haven't been able to find the time to do any. If it wasn't for amazon.com I would have VERY little purchased.

Friday night we went with the Thompsons to Riverton to the Southeast basketball game. The first half of the girls game was pretty much a blow out. However, the girls really pulled it out and came back at the end. We went into overtime and won! The boys also had a pretty close game, but won. As always, the Thompson/Colvin trip to Sonic was interesting! HaHa

A few weeks ago at church I signed us up to ring the Salvation Army bell at Wal-Mart for an hour. I thought that is would be fun and the kids would learn a little about giving...Well, of course everyone but Megan bailed on me. So, Megan I loaded up and headed out. When we left the house it was sunny and semi-warm. I was excited thinking it would be a great day for bell ringing. I was extra excited because I haven't purchased a new "coat" since I was pregnant with Tori. (Yes, she will be 14 in January.) So, all that I had was a hooded jacket. Well, of course as we started the wind picked up and the sun disappeared. It was sooooo cold. Megan would put her bell down every now and then to run in and warm up. We were doing a countdown the entire hour. Well, of course our relief didn't show up. Finally I called our relief and they had forgotten. They got there about 35 minutes late. So, we rang the bell in the FREEZING cold for an hour and 35 minutes. But, it felt good to do something for others!

Saturday afternoon we went to another SE basketball game. We played at home this time against St. Paul. The girls lost, but the boys won, leaving them still undefeated. (They won three games to start off the season in the Baxter Route 66 Tournament.) It is extra fun to watch the boys play because Jake plays. He is only a sophomore, but plays quite a bit of varsity. He does a wonderful job and has had a few exciting three point shots. Our high school boys are just a great group, but then I think that I am a bit partial because most of them play baseball for Vic and so they are extra dear to my heart.

Today I went to Wal-Mart and tried to stock up on groceries. Couldn't do any Christmas shopping because I had Megan and Aubrey with me. (Blabber Mouth 1 and Blabber Mouth 2) We also went to Walgreens to stock up on some cold medicine. I woke up yesterday not feeling to well, then I don't think that my cold hour and 35 minute bell ringing episode helped. So, I pretty much just watched TV the rest of the day, which is terrible when I have so much to do.

While we were in Pittsburg we searched the entire town for the book New Moon to no avail. I finished the movie Twilight this week. I thought that it was really good. Debbie and I are planning on going to see the movie tomorrow at 4. (Hopefully I can get some shopping done before then, and find the second book!)

More Thanksgiving Pictures

Check this picture out! There used to be a huge street sign all of the way up the back of the picture between Tori and Brett. Thank you Picassa!

Pam also shared these pictures...

Vic is wanting to learn to play the guitar. Well, Grandma Walls knows how to play, so she sat down and she showed him a couple of things. It has always been a standing joke that Vic's dad, Jim, says he can play the guitar. (Well he really can't!) He sat down then after Grandma. All of the kids were on the floor in front of him and all of a sudden he just started strumming away randomly and singing made up songs. The horrified/shocked looks on all of their faces was priceless!

Nolan's Graduation

Pam just e-mailed me some pictures from Nolan's graduation last May. It was quite a day. We started out at the football stadium for a bright sunny day. Well, as soon as the ceremony started a small thunder cloud moved right over us. So, we all sat in the rain for awhile until they called for a delay so people could get out of the rain. Well, the cloud seemed to sit on us, and so they moved the ceremony (after it was about 1/2 way through) to the high school gym. This was the last class to graduate from the old Chanute High School. They built a new high school right next to the football field that they started using this year. Thought that I would share the picts! Enjoy! :-)
