Tori's 8th Grade Graduation

Well, we recently celebrated a fun milestone...Tori's 8th Grade Graduation

There had been talk earlier in the year by the Southeast Board of Ed to cancel the eighth grade graduation. I'm so glad they didn't. Instead, they decided to combine them and have all three schools hold their graduations at one time.

Tori's 8th grade class is fairly large for our district. I think last year they had like 35 or 45 kids, this year they had 78!

Tori was an honor student and got to wear a big gold medal during the ceremony. She was very excited about this! :-)

Part of the fun of the night was the fact that a lot of the 8th grade parents got together and hosted a dance/celebration for the kids at Dalton's afterward the grad ceremony. I did the video for the celebration. It wound up being 22 minutes and 55 seconds long. I had started out planning a 10 min. video. Oops! I just used still shots seeing as I was trying to collect things for the video from three different schools and such a large number of kids. Tina Westervelt, another 8th grade parent helped me with the video. I think it turned out pretty good! :-) We burned a DVD for each grad.

We are off to the next step....HIGH SCHOOL! (Tori keeps picking out her "high school car." LOL I keep explaining that we live across the street!)

Way To Go Aubrey

My little Aubrey is officially a Southeast Jr. High Cheerleader for next year! :-)

I couldn't be prouder of my girl.

Tryouts were kind of mass confusion this year though. They had practices, then they were supposed to tryout on that Friday (the 8th) afternoon. Well, that didn't quite work out as planned. The Friday they were to tryout was the Friday the storm hit. It was the morning we went to school to craziness and wound up at home by 10 a.m. No school, no tryouts. Bummer!

Tryouts were then rescheduled for Tuesday, the 19th. That was quite a bit of time between practice and tryouts. But, Aubrey worked hard and apparently did a good job!

The way our school does cheerleading is this: We have three squads-Football, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball. Boys and girls basketball are two different seasons at two different times of the year. This way girls that want to play basketball can. Aubrey made the squad for all three sports! (She had already decided quite some time ago that basketball just wasn't her thing.)

Congratulations Aubrey!!!! :-) I love you!

Goodness!

Oh My Goodness!

I can't believe that it has been such a long time since I have posted. I knew I have been neglecting my blogging duties, but I didn't realize it was so bad!

I have been so busy that I have not had time to think straight. We have had ball games upon ball games, with rain outs, upon rain outs. :-) So much has happened and I have lots to write. (After school is out this week I promise to catch up.)

I will say, I have been working, since March, on a video for 8th grade graduation. It is done, but I have 78 copies to burn. I'm beat and going on four house of sleep.

More to come later! :-)
